6/15/22 - Pac City Dog Wash

At long last, Karin’s dream business is starting to take shape. Over the years that we have been coming to Pacific City we have always loved that there are so many dogs on the beach. Oregon is a dog state.

Over the years it has inspired Karin, and she has come up with the idea to provide something for dog owners. Before putting a dog covered with sand and salt water into the car, wouldn’t it be nice to wash them with warm water, biodegradable soap, and dry them with a provided towel? Yes to all!

That was the genesis of Pac City Dog Wash, Karin’s business idea to provide comfort for dogs and convenience for dog owners. Using our utility trailer, a collapsible water tank, a “camp shower” and pump to provide hot water, her own soap recipe and recycled towels she set up shop for a “soft opening” at the Pacific City boat launch. Her signs had not arrived yet so she handed out flyers. And, of course, it rained. Even still, it was a success. The equipment worked, she washed a dog, and she got encouragement from everyone she talked to about it.

She made a Facebook page with information and passed flyers out all around town. Hours and location will be posted the Facebook page, www.facebook.com/Pac-City-dog-wash as she gets established.

I am very proud of her determination and creativity.
