7/20/23 - Kitchen Demo
We are entering the final stage of renovation on the inside of the house. While the mud room and the garage will still be projects, the kitchen is far more important and essential. There has been nothing of value that we have discovered, in the walls, under the floors, in the attic. But we have found very interesting things. Here is the latest. When removing the walls in the kitchen there was newspaper glued to the planking. Not saveable because of the glue, but there were a few scraps we took pictures of like the front page headline in the lead picture for this post. To be clear, we did not find a body (yet) but someone did and it made the front page of the Oregon Daily Journal on Friday July 15, 1921. 102 years ago, almost to the day, we discover the newspaper as we demo to make the house new again. We also got our appliances delivered, that is a part of the first video here.
So, things are shaping up. We are hoping to have a new kitchen before the summer ends. As the last demo happens. We are clearing out in order to build back and make new.
Not always, but occasionally, the goats are helpful by selectively cleaning up the things we want them too without devastating the things we don’t.
