3/4/23 - Snow & Daybed
It has been a long time since our last post. Lots has happened, and life has been challenging. Epic snow fall for this part of the North Coast stranded us for a couple days in Portland. Instead of planned travel we had a “Stranded-cation” at the Quality Inn in Gresham. Definitely not a destination resort, but a pool and hot tub that proved comforting during the “snow-pocalypse.” A VERY faithful friend trudged through the snow to care for the goats while we were waylaid, and we lost a couple trees and lots of branches from the weight of the snow, but nothing too damaging. Sunny days helped the melt, though it did stay around for longer than expected. The goats did not mind much, and got right to work thinning the downed the branches.
We also made great progress upstairs. Having finished the walls, paint and flooring in the south room, I built a frame for a custom daybed. We asked my Mom, seamstress extraordinaire, to construct a custom mattress to fit the space. She also made a couple cushions to go with it. Thanks Mom. Finishes like this are glimpses of what the whole place will look like in the end.
Progress continues, and the goats keep doing their part. (most of the time)
