7/9/22 - THE PLUMBER!!!

Securing trades people has been really difficult. There is so much development happening on the Oregon coast that trades people of every kind are in high demand, scheduling weeks or even months out, and would likely prefer new construction to a reno project. At one point we discussed going to school to learn how to be a plumber, because it would be faster than finding one to do the work. But, at long last, we secured a plumber. Bob Christiansen of Christiansen’s Plumbing in Tillamook accepted our deposit and assigned one of his crews to our job. And, A WEEK LATER they showed up! Very exciting, and terrifying!

John and his son Tucker showed up, took stock of the project and got right to work. Because they are professionals, install and repair plumbing for a living, and know what they are doing, they got right after it. And as they were drilling holes, tearing stuff out and cutting into the floor I was quietly freaking out inside. I have been blundering ahead, without help, for months and each step I worked my head around before I did it. In other words, I AM SLOW. I don’t do this work for a living. If I did I would be faster at it. They do this for a living, so they did in a day what would have taken me a month. The speed was scary, but they did a great job. They were also happy to give me work to do, so I dug up the sewer tank and found the existing lines so they could replace them. Or at least that is what I was tasked with. Here is what I found…

After two days of work, our outgoing pipes all work correctly and much of the existing water pipes have been replaced.

Now we have construction work to do and materials to buy.

And the goats are always entertaining.
