4/1/22 - We Arrive
This will an ongoing update of the adventure we are on. We are moving from the city to the country, taking the opportunity life has provided us to reinvent ourselves as we reinvent a 100 year old farm house. This feels like a clumsy way to start, and we have been here a month, but I will make posts and try to get caught up so you can follow along if you like.
So here is the start.
Our move to Cloverdale Oregon came with all the normal challenges, get the U-Haul, load, travel, change the utilities, etc. But we had extra difficulty getting a storage unit. Because of the work we want to do on the house we knew we would need to put all our belongings in storage. We had no idea that storage units all along the Oregon coast are in high demand. We were able to get a small unit in the first couple days, but it is half the size we need so half our belongings, mostly furniture, had to be stored in the garage at the house. Hard to get started on renovations without much space to work in. We also needed half the garage for the trailer we will live in while the house is under construction. We began working on some projects, but it was not until 4/15 that we got another storage unit and were able to move the rest of our belongings somewhere safe till the house is ready.
Karin’s sister and brother in law, Mary and Dan, lent us a trailer to live in while we do the work, and once we got it situated, and our stuff in storage, we could begin the real work. We also acquired a utility trailer we will need for a variety of things. More about that later.
