3/23/23 - West Room Floor
Once I finished with the drywall and paint, I put some time into addressing the floor in the west room. It is a beautiful hardwood floor with the remnants of a deep red stain. First order of business is to clean it, but that turned out to be much harder than you would think. I washed the floor, on hands and knees, and as I went I also scrapped and sanded the places where there were paint splatters (from previous painting), scuffs and skids and other damage. That process was very tedious and took almost 7 hours. When I was done with the cleaning and sanding the result was really dramatic, but then I stained it!!! Outstanding!!! What an unbelievable transformation!!! The result brought tears to Karin’s eyes, it is so beautiful.
Small snag, because there was already stain on the floor many portions would not soak in or dry. I had to wipe down the floor a couple times with mineral spirits to remove the excess stain material. But it eventually dried and is just as gorgeous. See for yourself.
There have not been very many dry, sunny days, but when we get them we all enjoy them.
