5/27/22 - The Sand Filter
While there may be some romanticizing about this adventure, the reality is a bit more… earthy. While we are having the satisfaction of demo, design and rebuilding, there are also daily needs that require attention. We are mostly living in a travel trailer (big thank you to the Lee family), and we are using the bathroom and kitchen in the house. We are not remote, but we are definitely rural. There is no city water, we are on a spring, and there is no city septic, we have a tank and sand filter for a drain field.
Which brings us to the subject of today’s blog. The sand filter.
I hope the video explains enough. All drains lead to a septic tank that, when full enough, pumps the fluid to the sand filter/drain field. It needs to be maintained and clearly has not been for a long time.
At this time I am choosing to spare you from the “follow up” to this situation. I may choose to share at a later date.
The adventure continues, as always, with goats.
